Parwana

Political Activist
Parwana Amiri, one of the youngest political activists to emerge from the Greek refugee camps, left Afghanistan with her family in 2018. While living in Moria Camp in Lesvos, she wrote her first book, My Pen Won’t Break, but Borders Will – later translated into four languages. She continued her activism in Ritsona Camp, launching the “Build Schools Not Walls” campaign and publishing two more books, including We Will Fly Higher, a collection of her political poetry. Parwana now lives in Germany, where she co-founded “Why Borders,” a migration-focused series of community discussions and exhibitions. She recently graduated from high school and hopes to pursue anthropology at university.
